About

Jonell Elise Aban is a visual artist based in San Francisco. She earned a Bachelor’s in Studio Art at San Francisco State University and works in various mediums such as painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textiles and mixed-media.

Alongside meaning a muse or goddess (or any guiding light) that inspires artistically, paraluman is also an ancient Tagalog word that stands for “magnetic needle”— something that guides your way, similar to a compass.

May your guiding light or paraluman inspire and move you to create, make meaning, and find joy in artistic ways.
